Overview

Sacred Pause is a daily devotional and reflection app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Collect

• Journal entries: Your written responses to reflection prompts are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers.
• Mood tags: When you use the "How are you feeling?" feature, the emotional theme (e.g. "gratitude", "trust") is stored locally on your device for your personal insights.
• Emotion text: When you describe how you are feeling, your text is sent to our server to generate a personalised reflection. This text is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers.
• Preferences: Your name, notification settings, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage.
• Aggregate event counts: We count the number of times certain events occur (such as crisis detection triggers) for safety monitoring. These are simple numerical counts stored on your device. No personal text or identifying information is included.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or account credentials. There are no user accounts.
• We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data.
• We do not use analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or behavioural profiling.
• We do not sell, share, or monetise any of your data.

AI-Generated Reflections

When you use the "How are you feeling?" feature, your emotion text and a classified theme are sent to our server, which forwards the request to an AI service to generate a personalised reflection.

No identifying information is included in this request — no name, device ID, or user account. The AI service processes your text to generate a response and does not store your input.

Daily reflections are pre-generated and bundled with the app. They do not require any network request or data transmission.

Service Providers

We use a server infrastructure provider to process emotion text requests and generate AI reflections. We also use an AI service to generate personalised reflections based on the emotion theme you provide.

Neither service receives any personally identifiable information from Sacred Pause.

Data Storage and Security

All personal data (journal entries, mood tags, preferences) is stored locally on your device using iOS Data Protection encryption. Data is protected by your device passcode and biometrics.

No personal data is stored on external servers. The only data transmitted is the emotion text during "How are you feeling?" sessions, which is processed in real time and not retained.

Your Rights

• Access: All your data is stored on your device and visible to you within the app.
• Export: You can export all your data (journal entries, mood history, preferences) as a PDF from Settings > Export My Data.
• Deletion: You can delete your journal entries, mood history, or all app data at any time from Settings > Data & Privacy.
• Portability: Your exported data is in a standard PDF format that can be read by any text editor or data tool.

These rights apply regardless of your location, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and other applicable privacy laws.

Children's Privacy

Sacred Pause does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and stores all data locally on the device.

Crisis Safety

If crisis-related language is detected in your input, the app displays emergency resources without sending any data to external services. Your input text is never transmitted or stored in these situations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
